Art & Advocacy Auction 2: Electric Boogaloo
I was invited to return for the 3rd annual Art + Advocacy Auction for Safe & Sound, an organization that aids children who have been in abusive homes.

Let it Snow!
It's December and time to welcome that seasonal snow!
Actually, this was supposed to be part of a series advent sketches, but I only made a handful before other projects swept in and took over. You'll likely see some of these other cards throughout the month.

Penciled Packages 2: The Quickening
Once again, I'm embellishing some Christmas packaging. This time around I wanted to make the drawings more dynamic, play to the shape of the box and not be so tied down to the material I was using for reference.
Color is magic! |
Llama Llama Red Pajama. That's new to me. |
"Miles from Tomorrowland" is also new to me. What little I've seen looks better than the "Tomorrowland" movie. |

Brand New Me!
Since its nearly the end of the year its time to make some changes around here!
I designed this banner to work for my website, blog, Facebook and pretty much any other social media site I'm on.
I designed this banner to work for my website, blog, Facebook and pretty much any other social media site I'm on.
What I really wanted to do was show my work in a way that could be easily read, unlike the previous banner which was made up of thumbnails from my greatest hits. A self portrait featuring me drawing seemed like a much clearer way to show what I do.
What a handsome fellow! |
This is just one of many changes and simplifications I hope to be making towards my personal brand in the future.
Also, I made this zombie variant for Halloween!

Cal vs. The Cephalopod
During the recording of my return to Geek Fallout, Calvin commented on my recent work and suggested that he would like to see a drawing of him. Seizing the opportunity, I decided to revisit our previous artistic collaboration.
This project really kicked the doors open. Not only did Cal love this picture and use it for his Facebook profile picture, but my boss at Cedar Point saw it and commissioned me to draw some Halloween-centric caricatures for display at the stands that we'll see soon.

A Few of my Favorite Themes: The Intruder
The Intruder
Here's where you can see the influence of classic suspense thrillers growing up, especially the works of Alfred Hitchcock.
You may also be able to detect my introverted personality in these illustrations of someone who just bursts onto the scene to spoil the tranquility of solitude.
Sometimes its a foreboding omen of things to come.
Or maybe someone just doesn't understand personal boundaries
But it can also be an unexpected source of seasonal comfort and charity
I even made a whole Pinterest board of this theme for inspiration:
Now I want to hear from you!
What's your favorite example of "The Intruder" be it in my work or other art?
What other themes would you like to see in this series?
