Patriotic Painter: J.C. Leyendecker

Happy Independence Day my fellow Americans!

J.C. Leyendecker's work for advertising and magazines was produced smack in the middle of both world wars, which is why I think we can see a spike in patriotism in his work and many others of the period.

God Bless America.

  1. Thanks for all the Leyendecker. Because of the specific patriotism of his work I've not seen much here in the UK although he's often referenced by many of my favourite American cartoonists and illustrators. This post was a real treat for me.

  2. You're Welcome, glad to hear you enjoyed it. Leyendecker's work is rather hard to find in publication so I've kept a personal collection of his images that I've gleamed from the internet close at hand, and try my best to squeeze his work into most of these vintage illustration posts.
